How can you find five wild edible plants?

There are actually a lot of wild edible plants. They are a very healthy option and not that hard to find. They are a healthier option to vegetables than the ones you buy at your local supermarket. Not only you can find them in the wild, you can also grow them in your backyard. 

Now, if you, for some reason, find yourself stranded in the middle of the wilderness, the following are five wild edible plants you might be able to find and use to help you survive.


These are very popular edible plants and very common. You can eat the flower buds, the flower, the leaves and the root.  It has great benefits for your organism. Dandelions contain high levels of minerals, calcium, potassium, and vitamin C.


This is a short plant that usually grows 3 to 7 inches tall. The plant can be added to a salad or it can be eaten cooked. It contains iron and zinc in greater amount than any other edible plant.


The tips and the white colored bottoms are the edible parts of this plant. They are a great source of starch.   This plant apparently was a part of Native Americans diet. 


This is a very well-known plant and it is found everywhere in the United States. It is not recommended for it to be eaten raw since it is very hard to digest.  It can be made into juice or cooked for better digestion.


Another very common plant, bamboo is fairly easy to spot in the wilderness.  It contains a high amount of fiber. The shoots are rich in protein and potassium too.  The plant must be cut when it is under a foot tall and should not be eaten raw.
